Too much information - a poem about today

Welcome to this new blog of mine. I owe it all to my friend Mary Ellen who challenged me to take the Poem a Day (PAD) challenge. See Poetic Asides or Mary Ellen's poems . I should warn you that I haven't written poetry in a long time, yet here I am putting them out for public consumption. Go figure. That caveat in place, here's PAD #1 from me:

I took off today in hopes of snapping
blooming wildflowers in the dazzling spring sun,
but the sky is overcast and my son is overdrawn.
Lessons in personal finance,
My enemy, anger,
a house that cannot stay clean,
have all sprouted like weeds in my day.
I can hear the birds singing,
I found an eggshell under the hackberry,
Can this day, half over, be salvaged?
